Conversations
I am learning that every conversation, and I mean every should be spoke with Joy and Love. I have heard and said it many times that you never know what someone else is going through. As many of you who know me know that I have low tolerance for people who do things that seem inconsiderate and annoying. I have a low tolerance especially when I am not in the mood to deal with people. So in the grocery store I may see someone I know but if I'm not feeling it I duck and dive to another aisle.
My condo is a great example of the people who I am having a difficult learning to tolerate. I will spare you the details but it has been loud, dirty and irritating. I spoke to one neighbor, who lives underneath me yesterday, as kind as I could I asked her if there is a completion date of the construction they are working on and she simple said we are doing it ourselves so no. In my defense this has been going on now for 7 months. So I walked away and prayed on this. What are my options???
This morning one other loud neighbor had been in and out of the doors and leaving a huge mess in the hallways. I asked yet another neighbor what was going on, and she told me he is finally clean up his mess because he is bringing his father home with hospice to died.
I headed off to the gym and my friend called me to go to lunch, when I arrived at our meeting place she had been crying, she told me that she had spent the week at her brother's home who is home dying. I sat and listened and we had a long talk about his options and what is the best way to die in this situation, he did not seem to have the proper care so I was reaching out to a nurse friend of mine who gave a great advice and we actually ended up running into a mutual friend who too has gone through hospice with her sister. After texting my friend, her niece and all our chats I feel like I was helpful.
There are times when we are need to talk someone through something. There are times when someone just needs you to sit and listen to their story or situation. Sometimes all we can offer is a smile because we are not aware of every persons individual trial. But I know what God would want me to do even when I am down and irritated, I need to look to each individual person as an opportunity to do God's work.
I love this quote, " If we would just learn to recognize people's needs and pain, there are so many prayers that God wants to use us to answer. Too many go unanswered because ordinary people like you and me don't allow the Holy Spirit to guide us."
